You’re exhausted. Every day feels like you’re being pulled apart by different people wanting different things.
And somewhere in the middle of all this chaos, you’re trying to run a profitable building business.
You started building to create something meaningful and have control over your work. Instead, you’re working harder than ever but feeling more lost each week.
The solution isn’t working more hours or taking on bigger projects. It’s getting crystal clear on what actually matters to you and your business.
When you have a solid framework of values and priorities, everything changes… you’re not reacting to every demand, you’re making decisions that align with where you actually want to go.
Your team makes better decisions without constantly checking with you. Your clients respect your processes because they understand what you stand for.
In this video, Amelia and Duayne explain why builders get stuck with people-pleasing and how clear values create the foundation for everything else in your business.

Do you, as a custom residential builder, feel like you’re being pulled in a heap of different directions?
You find that you don’t have a clear path or anything that pulls everything into alignment for you and your business, but instead, you’re being pulled and juggling all of these different demands from everybody else.
Duayne
As builders, we quite often tend to be people pleasers, and this is a really bad place to operate from, because it means that… there’s no consistency.
You’re going to be getting pushed and pulled by everyone around you, instead of actually focusing on what adds value to yourself, adds value to your business, and really helps you achieve the goals that you’re setting out to achieve.
Amelia
When we work with builder members, we help them get clear on their values and their priorities.
It can be incredibly clarifying, because all of a sudden you have a framework for the decisions that are going to really matter, that are going to move you towards the goals that you want to achieve, and are going to give your team a place to understand what actually drives your business, what’s important to you as a business owner, and be able to bring everybody into step with where you actually want to go.
You’ll be surprised at something as simple as identifying your values, letting your team, your clients and your marketing everywhere people know what you stand for will make a massive difference to your business and your life.

Quite often, when you’re in this position, it can feel like you’re just getting pushed and pulled from every direction, and it’s a really uncomfortable place to be in.
And it means that on a day to day basis, there’s no clarity, there’s no direction. Nine out of ten, you’re going to feel like you’re quite lost. You don’t know where to start.
So this is something that’s really, really important to work on if you want to get your business to where you want it to be.
Amelia
Oftentimes, it can feel a bit strange to think about what your values and priorities are. Sometimes you can think, “Well, does it really matter? Is it going to make that bigger difference?”
But unless you have a core framework, a core understanding of what your business is, and how it operates and what’s important to you, it’s very difficult to then expect anybody else to understand what’s important to you.
So taking that time to work on your values and priorities really gives the opportunity for everybody to sing from the same song sheet as they’re working through delivering projects for you.
